Take part in Hooked on School Days!
From February 11th to the 15th and throughout the province of Quebec, regional consulting authorities, such as the Regroupement lavallois pour la réussite éducative (RLPRE), will be orchestrating the celebration of Hooked on School Days (HSD). The weeklong campaign is the perfect opportunity to create a dialogue within our communities about how to recognize, encourage and support the efforts and achievements of our youth.
This year’s theme, Our actions, a + in their success highlights the diversity of actors and tangible gestures which can have a positive impact on a youth’s determination, perseverance and school success throughout his or her life. Recognizing the power each and every one of us posesses to make a difference in the effort to promote school perseverence and educational success, the campaign aims to celebrate all of the different actions, people, organizations, activities and projects that are a + in youth’s successes.
Many free tools and resources are available to help encourage, highlight and celebrate perseverance!

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, HSD 2019 spokesperson
Hooked on School Days (HSD) has selected a well-known spokesperson to spread its 2019 Québec-wide campaign messages: Laurent Duvernay-Tardif.
A talented professional football player with a Doctor of Medicine degree from McGill University, Laurent is passionate about the goals he has set for himself and has constantly persevered to achieve them. With his wide-ranging experiences, Laurent knows first hand that small gestures, when they are added up, can be a powerful force for helping young people persevere in their education and throughout life.
In 2016, to take tangible action to help youth stay in school, he created the Laurent Duvernay-Tardif Foundation, whose goal is to highlight the importance of striking a balance between sports, arts, and studies. Encouraging physical activity and creativity are indeed fundamental to youth development and are major factors in their educational success.
We are so pleased that through his dedication to young people, Laurent will help us promote the campaign and mobilize Quebecers around the success of our youth.
Hooked on School Days
For the past 14 years Hooked on School Days (HSD) has mobilized Quebecers around the educational success of young people. Celebrated every year in the third week of February and organized by Québec’s regional consulting authorities (Instances régionales de concertation – IRCs) on student retention and educational success, this Québec-wide event is aimed at reminding provincial and municipal elected officials; organizations; employers; parents; and all provincial and regional education, health, and early childhood stakeholders that they all play vital roles in encouraging young people to stay in school.
