Laval is home to a variety of educational institutions. The city is served by two separate school boards, the regional campuses of two universities, the biggest cegep in the province as well as vocational and technical centers.
- Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board (English language)
Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board is the third biggest English language school board in the province. Its service area includes three administrative areas (Laval, Laurentians and Lanaudière). It oversees 26 elementary schools, 9 high schools, 5 adult and vocational centers, in which 14 000 students are enrolled - Commission scolaire de Laval (French language)
The Commission scolaire de Laval is a French language school board in Laval. It oversees 54 elementary schools, 14 high schools, 8 vocational schools and 4 adult education centers, in which 52 000 students are enrolled.

The only college in the region, Cégep Montmorency offers both general and technical study programs. Situated near the Montmorency metro station, it serves more than 7000 students.
